Well, Matt Mosley got the best of me on our Week 1 picks. I went 2-1 while our resident NFC East guru swept the board. It's a long season and I will rebound. We have some interesting games that we are picking so it should be a fun week. Now on to our Week 2 picks...
New England Patriots @ New York Jets (-1)
Mosley: Give me the Jets even though I don't like the line. This is a blood feud, but I just think the pressure for young Matt Cassel is too immense in this game. Bill Belichick will throw everything at Brett Favre, but you can't stop a legend. Jets roll!
3rd and Long: This is a surprise to me. The public is on the Patriots. I would have thought they would be giving Brett Favre at home some love against the Brady-less Pats. I still think the Pats will make the playoffs, but I don't see immediate success for a QB that hasn't started a game since high school. Favre will shine at home with the Jets fans cheering him on.
Mosley: Jets -1
3rd and Long: Jets -1
Chicago Bears @ Carolina Panthers (-3)
Mosley: I loved the way the Bears looked in Game 1. That defense is tough, and without Steve Smith, I don't think Jake Delhomme will be that successful. And the Bears will be all over Donte Rosario (I keep wanting to call him Rosario Dawson). Give me the Bears and the points.
3rd and Long: The Great Jake is back my friends. Crazy come from behind game in San Diego last week. I know the Bears just beat the Colts, but I don't put much stock into that victory. The Panthers look they're ready to contend for the playoffs. I'm going to lay the points with the home favorite.
Mosley: Bears +3
3rd and Long: Panthers -3
Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys (-7)
Mosley: E-A-G-L-E-S...Eagles!!! Take the points. Cowboys will pull out the win, but that's too many points to pass up. As my radio partner Randy Galloway says, bet 'til yo hands bleed. Donovan McNabb's too good not to keep this one close.
3rd and Long: This spread seems high doesn't it? I'm with Vegas on this one. I think the 'Boys are in a good spot here. Revenge will be on their minds. Philly came into Dallas late last year and shutdown the 'Boys potent offense. That won't happen Monday. The O-line will protect Romo (even with Philly's exotic blitzes) and the Cowboys will roll.
Mosley: Eagles +7
3rd and Long: Cowboys -7
These are just three of many great games this weekend. Enjoy the weekend everybody.
Peace.
