Wow. I can't believe it's almost here. We're a little 48 hours away from the kickoff of the 2007 NFL season. As much as I like college football, I like pro even better. The parity that exists in the NFL makes it the best and most lucrative sport we know today. The salary cap causes a lot of player turnover, but that turnover leads to the NFL being the most competitive sports out there. You have to give credit to the league for figuring out exactly how to satisfy the fans. First, it was brilliant to have the first game on a Thursday and it was made even better this year by scheduling the best possible game (Saints at Colts). The Thursday opener is much appreciated by Vegas. This game will most likely be bet more than any other solo game of the season excluding the Super Bowl. Second, they came up with the genius idea of having two Monday Night Football on the opening week. What's better than one game in primetime? Two games in primetime. Kudos NFL.
More to come before Thursday...

I couldn't agree more. Fall is in the air, the leaves are falling here in NC, and I just finished my 4th Fantasy Football draft. There are more than 40 million Americans participating in fantasy football in 2007-that is an amazing number. I have come to the conclusion after to many drafts that in order to enjoy this football season, the following needs to happen:
1) Tom Brady needs to have a great year. Let's put the supermodels behind us play a little football.
2) Cadillac needs to play like a Cadillac, not a Ford Pinto.
3) Anquan Bolden and the Arizona Cardinals need to finish around 9-7 this year.
4) I sure hope the Cowboys utilize Marion Barber.
5) Vernon Davis and Chris Cooley are the future at TE in 2007.
6) Defense better not win Championships in fantasy this year.
The NFL seems to have figured it out. No guranteed contracts which handcuff MLB and NBA teams. These players play all out knowing if they don't perform, they are gone. They make gambling seem like a sport, not like an illegal operation-for the most part.
I know I'll be glued to the TV at 8:30 eastern to watch Manning vs Brees on Thursday. The NFL just seems to get it. As the season approaches, I realize that as the baseball season winds down-WHO CARES! Let's play some football.
As good as NFL is...There is no sport in the world like college football...The passion, tradition, the kids, the fuckin stadiums...It's just a better game
College football is the most pure sport, but the NFL is simply the best...
